i'm a yankee and i moved down south. i never heard of sweet potato pie until i moved here. probably because we grow alot of pumpkins up north, and you guys grow alot of sweet potatoes. anyway i tasted the sweet potato pie, and i have to say it tasted good, but i still prefer the pumpkin over the sweet potato pie. maybe it's a yankee thing, but pumkin beats potato in my book!

I make mine with Cognac or spiced rum. The Irish cream would be too sweet for me. I'm one of those folks that think sweet potatoes are sweet enough without adding more sugar. :)

Adding the Irish cream liqueur reminds me of the sweet potato pie I made last year when I realized I had no creamy liquid in the house except for egg nog. In it went. Best sweet potato pie ever. :)
