Maureen--I will look into it. You might see if you can order from someplace in Canada in the meantime. I just got email from Sur La Table corporate today--and saw no Sumeet products in their online catalog--but I will ask around and see what I can find out for you.

Barbara - At the end of last month I called the sumeet company. I was told that there were none available in the US until February. They also told me that Williams Sonoma and Sur La Table would be carrying them with this new shipment. If you are still working with Sur La Table could you please....please...pretty please...check to see if this is true. Having asked people at Williams Sonoma, while they are sweet and smile nicely, know nothing.

Hello, CJ! Nice to meet you, welcome!

I do miss Akbar's. The last time we were there, it had been three years since we had visited, and the waiters still remembered us, and chatted and caught up with us.

That was so sweet.

Let me know how the Navrattan works out for you, and come back!

I love Akbar's in Columbia! We don't get there much any more, but we used to eat there at least once a month when we lived in Laurel. And the Navratan Korma is one of my favorites.

I'm looking forward to trying out your recipe for it.

Goan cuisine interests me greatly, Ashwini. It is a fascinating blend of many different influences and cuisines--and since I love seafood and fish, of course, I am interested in it!

You know, when I first started cooking Indian food, I had no clue that leaving it overnight in the fridge would improve it so much, but soon enough I discovered that trick, and will use it when I am cooking a big feast for friends. Many dishes I will cook the night before, and leave in the fridge to mellow and become more flavorful, while the day of the party, I will cook breads and rice and the like.

It ends up to be less work, and the food is better!

Thank you for posting--welcome to my blog, and I hope you comment again.
