Sounds like Iron Chef. You always notice the chef's food has a rustic feel to avoid wasting time on presentation.

Oh, Kim! I didn't know that class was the one you were in--I read both posts about it and thought it sounded like great fun.

Shuna is great--I love reading her blog.

If I lived in the Bay Area, I would take a class with her, for certain!

I am so glad you did it, and had fun and learned a lot, Kim. It is very much worth it.

Barbara,

Dr. Biggles and I got together and we had the knife skills class at his house, with all of my in-laws (we were a group of 6) and 5 others. Shuna is amazing!

I just posted my comments to the KQED blog under Shuna's entry:
http://www.kqed.org/weblog/food/2006/05/knife-skills-class-101.jsp

And also here is her post on her own blog:
http://eggbeater.typepad.com/shuna/2006/05/knife_skills_cl_1.html

Shuna is really nice, and I highly recommend her classes (on anything!) to everyone!

Thanks so much -- I have emailed Dr. Biggles. I can do the cutting and such -- but I'm just not very fast with it. It's the whizzing of the blade (in a safe manner) that fascinates and eludes me.
