I happened across your site recently and love it! I do recall I might have seen some of your photos on tastespotting a while back ago…but wanted to let you know I have enjoyed reading your posts, your approach and take on food.

Also, to share in regards to the food memoir…I just posted a glimpse of mine on my site. It comes in a two part series entitled Beauty and the Beet. Anyways, I’ll look forward to reading more about tigers & strawberries (love that title!)

Lots of good thoughts here. Anita–yes, many women write about their lives through the context of food. It seems natural to many of us, I guess because we are seen as the nurturers and “feeders” of a family.

I read The Language of Baklava as part of a book group in which we explored memoirs of Middle Eastern women. It was my second favorite, beaten only by the graphic novel Persepolis. I’m so glad you enjoyed it and blogged about it!
