Hi Barbara,
I have this book as well and found that many, many of the recipes are repeated, with the only variation being the main ingredient (chicken vs. pork vs. shrimp)
However, the photos are gorgeous and so appealing that you just want to try them. I love that she takes care in the appearance, color and shape of the ingredients that she uses. Final dish is always beautiful.

Gordon, the recipes are truly worthwhile, at least in my opinion. I just wish the format of the book was more usable in the kitchen!

Anita--I think I will have to rent her DVD's--I really like her storytelling and I like the look of her. She looks very, very interesting, and personable, and I want to see what she is like "in person."

I saw her show (don't know which one) for the first time a month ago on the TV here in Taipei. I had never heard of her before, so I was intrigued.

Her show is stylish and very slick, which isn't my sort of thing to begin with, but I watched it to the end.

Let's say I wasn't very impressed. She didn't really discuss much about the ingredients she was using and gave a very perfunctory how-to of the recipe she was cooking (i think it was some sort of stir fried beef). What struck me most was that she talked more about her own memories of the dish than giving more explicit directions on how to make it.

Those are my recollections. I'm not surprised that her cook book is more like a coffee table book...the show was like a set of very pretty moving images of food and a kitchen.

Ooooh, I adore Kylie. We have had both the shows mentioned above telecast on TV and, yes, she is all for the demystifying. The chopping and all are perhaps better understood in the shows (I haven't seen the book), and she has a wonderful enthusiastic style that makes you want to get up and cook that dish right away. The generous use of red chilies in her cooking makes it very appealing to the Indian in me!

Yes, those soft-boiled duck eggs look heavenly, and there couldn't be a simpler recipe.
