Weekend Kat Blogging: Thing One and Thing Two

For those unfamiliar with the classic works of Dr. Seuss, Things One and Two are characters from perhaps one of the greatest pieces of literature of all time, The Cat in the Hat.

Thing One and Thing Two, in the book are twin humanoid forces of destruction. At our house, Thing One is Kat, and Thing Two is her fluffy feline sister, Tatterdemalion.

So far, Kat hasn’t been much in the way of a force of chaos, but Tatter has made up for her.

But it won’t be long before Kat will start catching up. You see, just today, she crawled for the first time.

It was only a few inches, and it was more inchworm wiggling than crawling, but still.

The basic motions are there; it is only a matter of time before Kat will go mobile under her own power.

And our house will never know what hit it.

1. “My, what big teeth you have, Miss Tatters!”

   I call my two “Thing one” and “thing two” occasionally. (Lucy was “Thing Two” until she got her name.)

   I’m pleased to see that Tatters has adjusted to the new pack order .

   I also love the pictures of Kat with Schmoo. (Being fond of torties, goofy half-siamese, and babies.)

2. We have a good portion of Dr. Seuss’s original art in the library of our special collections section here on campus. The hallway leading to that section is lined with framed original works…I think we could sneak Kat’s picture in there. She looks like she belongs.

3. I was “Fing One” and my sister was “Fing Two” when we were small! Actually, we still are now.

   I so wish I had that outfit - really cute pic!

6. That is the most adorable picture!!!!

   Me and my daughter Emily were looking for Thing one and Thing two costume pictures and came across it. We looked at each other and at the same time went “AAAAWWWWW”
