I have recently returned from Korea and I was so inspired by the food that I made Bulgogi for my children when I returned. We put our hot plate/grill in the middle of the table and had all the side dishes. It was so cool. I cut up the pork with scissors like they do in Seoul.

Barbara,
We, Koreans, never make any dishes the same way. We substitute ingredients according to what is in season and we have on hand, so they vary a alot - even when they are made by same person. I can say that it is true for restaurants, also. The reason is the fresh vegetables we use. Unless it is available all year round, such as bean sprouts, tofu, etc., we make a do with what is available that day.

Anchovy paste and lemon juice in your salad are new to me, but hey it is your recipe and if it tastes good to you, then they belong in your recipe, I say. Your recipes look good.

I am glad you are enjoying my home country's food. -Jill-

That is an excellent idea, Mary Ann. I will have to see if I can get it at the local Asian market! Thanks!

About malt syrup: you may find it worthwhile to get Korean malt powder, which is widely useful, and easy to keep around.
