I just finished a long post on my blogabout halal (Islamically acceptable) meat and commercial meat production before browsing over here to find your article. My take on eating local as a spiritual practice is more ritually and legally based than your passionate description. And even as different as my spiritual practice as a Muslim is from your own, Barbara, your impassioned insights frequently inform my attempts to live out my faith.

Great post, Barbara. I’m very hung over at the moment, so my attention span is quite limited. But as soon as I started reading this I physically couldn’t stop until the end. Your writing is almost hypnotic!
