Quick note: you've confused the words "dhaba" (a roadside restaurant, long a in the first syllable) and "dabba" (box, short a in the first syllable, doubled b distinctly pronounced)

Diane--that is a good idea. I ended up with two of the masala dhaba, so I am using the one I packed up for the photo, and will repack the empty one (with spices in plastic baggies to keep them from spilling) for shipping to the winner.

I -LOVE- the idea of using the inner lid for spices, too.

I used the masala dhaba last night for the first time. I made chicken korma, a mixture of masoor and moong dal with tarka, and broccoli cooked with panch phoron. Morganna and I agreed that using the masala dhaba is much easier than dragging out the big jars of spices to litter up the counter every time.

It is also fun to use the little spoon.

Kalyn--every year I have participated by hosting a prize--which I think is two years, now--I have also bought tickets for other prizes. I have never won anything, but it doesn't matter to me--what matters is I still donated money, time and goodies to the cause.

The years I didn't donate a prize, I also bought tickets--it is just a cool event.

So, in short, please go ahead and buy as many tickets as you would like for my prize--if I didn't already have all the goodies, I'd want it myself!

What a fantastic prize! I would love to win this. (Would it be bad form for a host to bid on prizes. Nah, of course not, the more people who bid the better, right!)

Thanks for participating! I hope we break the record.
