The Last Weekend Kat and Cat Blogging of 2007

And now, here are a variety of photos capturing Kat and her friends the kitties from this past month, in all their glory.

Here, you see Kat getting her very first bite of cookie. It is one my Aphrodite Cakes–and after she had it, she flew around the living room in circles. We now limit consumption of these cookies to very small bites poached from others.

Unless, as she did on Christmas night, she snags one out of the container when one is too slow to close it.

Here are the two sisters a few days before Christmas. Kat is wearing the scholar’s hat that belongs to a great plush orangutan Zak has whom we have named Sifu Sun Wu Kung–the Monkey King. Kat has learned to snag the hat and put it on her own head.

Here we see Delia sprawled on the couch after a hard day of holiday celebration, tearing into wrapping paper, playing with Kat and the feather wand and eating cookie crumbs and drinking tea. Yes, the kitten likes cookies and tea. She, however, abhors coffee–which is good.

There is Sifu, along with Kat, wearing his hat, and Zak, all of them happy as clams, right before Christmas.

Sifu likes cookies, but I am told he likes rice wine better.

He certainly is generous with his hat.

Here is another Christmas day picture of Kat, still in her pajamas, playing intently with her new toys.

She sure likes her new stacking and shape sorting toys–and I am very glad for it.

Schmoo fell asleep reading a book, as you can see. He reads slowly, though, slower even than most cats, so he didn’t get past the title page before he had a nap attack, but, he seemed to be enjoying himself, so who am I to judge:?

And, finally, Delia takes a long rest after all of the festivity and fun.

    3) That’s a lot of Schmoo! ;)

Are those toys easily findable? We have a number of little ones about Kat’s age at the church, so if they’re fairly quiet, they would be a good addition to the toy box.

  2. Charlotte–you can get them at www.oompa.com They are made of wood, though, so you might want to keep that in mind–they are not very quiet if dropped on a wood floor.

They are cute, though, and durable, and not plastic. I dislike plastic. Even when I was a kid I didn’t like it.

And yes, when she is playing with her manual dexterity toys–the shape sorters and stackers, she gets a very serious look on her face. I think it is because at that age, playing is hard work!

Delia, when she sleeps all splayed out like that is sickeningly adorable. Very, very VERY cute.

Schmoo is huge. That is all there is to it. He is giaguantumungous, and he seems to still be growing.

    Luckily, he is a sweetheart.

  3. The gigantaginormimungous SCHMOO!

Thanks - we do have a wood floor, although there is a carpeted area that the kids flop out on. Most of the toys are soft because of our bright acoustics - our late church cat used to like hanging out _on_ the basket :D .

  6. Adorable and can I say, I love to see men wearing slings! Not enough of y’all do. They’re wonderful. My husband will rock the front facing baby pack happily, but can’t get comfy in the sling. But the pack is such a hassle sometimes. When baby is fussy it’s a two man job getting her fitted.

Anywho, thanks for writing a great blog. I look forward to reading more fabulous recipes in the New Year. Best of luck to you and yours.

  8. I love it when my big fat cat splays all his feet out like that - he looks so goofy!

Family and cats all look happy, well-fed and well - may all of you remain so in 2008!
