Austria and Bavaria are awfully close, geographically and culturally.

I will have to try the sausage version–it sounds really scrummy.

Hey, I’ve been meaning to write about my (Austrian) grandmother’s version of lentil soup – and yes, she was good peasant stock! ; ) Ours has one clove of garlic, Lawrey’s salt (though I suspect the original was just paprika and salt) and smoked sausage instead of the beef. It’s the soup that got me and my friends through my freshman year of university when we were all dead poor!

I’ll have to try out the beef version, though!
