Jan--I am feeling better this week. I have taken it pretty easy for a while and it seems to help. The intestinal symptoms have subsided, as has the pain. I only get really painful when I am tired or I push myself too hard. I have to be careful how I hold myself while I quilt and how much cooking I do, but I am being careful.

I am glad that everyone else is into geeky Moms!

Roxana--thank you for your kind words! I am flattered and humbled by your praise--and I am glad that I get Indian food right--it is important to me to present the essence of a cuisine intact, even if I cook with non-traditional ingredients.

I have little experience with South Indian food, and I think I might start trying to cook more of it this coming summer. I have a couple of invitations to visit South India, from you and quite a few other folks--bloggers and cookbook authors, so I believe it may be my destiny to go some day. I would love to eat my way through India, guided by cooks and writers who know the lay of the culinary land.

Hi Barbara!

I am from Chennai, India and have been reading your blog for some months now and I must say its the most delightful food blog that I have ever come across...
Of specific interest to me, is your love for Indian food - if I didnt know who wrote this blog, I would easily assume its an Indian! :) And yes, bonus points for getting the names right (it is sometimes upsetting to see people get the names all wrong!).
I am from the south of India - I havent seen any south Indian dishes on your blog so far, I would love to see you try some south Indian style cooking - or better still, whenever you make a trip to India, would love to host you and introduce you to the world of Idlis and idiappams and naatu kozhi curry and oh-so-many-things, that I suspect you will fall in love with!

Happy writing..

I love you geeky you are. It's awesome. :D

I just saw the Star Trek movie yesterday. It was probably the first sci fi movie I've been able to just sit and thoroughly enjoy for years. :)

Count me in as a Geeky Mom - I just bought myself a Star Trek Limited Edition Titanium Spork from ThinkGeek.com (they only made 1701 of them), and would be thrilled with both the toy Enterprise and a plastic Loch Ness monster. My daughter gave me a Marvel Super Hero Pop-Up wall calendar for Christmas last year and my oldest son gave me the first Dark Tower graphic novel. I haven't seen the new Star Trek movie yet, although Oldest Son said it's great, but I'm working my way through STNG on DVD with my youngest son, who wasn't born yet while it was on television.

Geeky moms rock. I'm glad you had a good Mother's Day!

And how are you feeling, btw? Any test results back?
